New Greek National Opera house
Tall order for SAFE-door Industries at new Greek National Opera house - SAFE-door Industries Ltd have recently completed the installation of five large sliding acoustic and fire resistant Soundslide stage doors at the new home of the Greek National Opera at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) in Athens, Greece.
The €566m SNFCC project was designed by renowned Italian architect Renzo Piano who also designed The Shard in London; when completed later in 2016 it will house both the 1,400-seat opera house and the National Library of Greece, as well as the 210,000 square metre Stavros Niarchos Park.
The five Soundslide doors from SAFE-door Industries provide access to and around the three rear stage areas, and are between four and five metres wide, with four of them reaching ten metres high. These stage doors are electrically operated with a battery back-up system, and for safety have twin self-monitoring safety edges which stop the door upon contact with an object.
